Synchroid
  • Hi, I just wanted to tell everyone about my synthesizer app Synchroid which uses libpd for android. Thanks a lot to Peter Brinkman for all his work on libpd and all the help from you guys here!

Here's all the information about the app:

  • Nice work, Göran! I have to admit that the UI confused me a bit at first. For example, you have three kinds of button on the main screen: The record button is a toggle, the next three buttons want to be held, not tapped, and the last one takes you to the settings when tapped. The action overflow button does nothing on the main screen but opens the main settings when selected on the settings screen.

Also, it took me a while to figure out how to delete recordings and what exactly the third and fourth button are for (they only do something if you hold them while playing a recording). One quick fix would be to have the action overflow button bring up a help window, but I think your users will be grateful if you add visual clues that let users know what to expect. The Android UI guidelines may provide some inspiration: http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/index.html
  • Yes, I think we will be redoing a lot of the interface quite soon and grouping buttons by behavior in the four corners of the screen or something. We're also going to be adding more instruments and several tracks.
    (instruments will be selectable)
And also some more responsive graphics.

This app was just a students project but we felt it was fun enough to play with to warrant putting it up on Google Play for a low price.
    Cheers
