Hi all !
I need a little tip here from people playing live, especially with laptops ...
I've been feeling frustrated lately to not be able to play my laptop (Pd patches, Supercollider, soft synths) everywhere. I always depend on the gear that's already there, amps, consoles, speakers ... so I've been thinking I should get myself a mini amp and a mini speaker that I could easily carry with me. So I've checked what the options are ...
First I looked at micro amps (combos) for guitar, and I found the Orange micro crush (http://www.orangeamps.com/products/guitar-amp-combos/crush-pix-series/micro-crush-pix/), which seems to be THE choice for micro amps. But then I googled and found out that : yeah it's nice for a micro amp, but micro amps are very limited anyways ... forget basses and there's easily a lot of distortion, and you can break the speaker easily if you but too much basses or play too loud.
So now, I'm looking for a bit higher-end stuff, preferably separate amp and speaker. But I don't really know where to look ... there doesn't seem to be many middle-priced, OK-quality amps. Everything is super expensive, and cheaper guitar amp heads have lots of useless effects (well ... they are for guitar). I've been thinking also active speaker like this genelec : http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/genelec-6010a-bi-amplified-monitor but I remember that's quite heavy, and probably a bit fragile, so probably not great for carrying around. Plus, I wouldn't want to spend much more than 200€
So well ... I'm kind of confused, and that would be great to hear from people that have experience with that !!!
