ideas for iPad apps?
  • What kind of iPad apps would people like to see? I'm an iOS developer with a graphics and games background but I've been having so much fun with the iPad music apps out there I've been itching to write my own. I've got a bunch of ideas already but would be curious to hear what people think is missing from the ipad music world..

    some ideas i have:
    - a synthesizer played by manipulating a virtual physical object (i.e. a chunk of crystals or something). Something like ZenBound as a musical instrument. This appeals to my graphics background but I'm worried it would be too much of a toy to be useful.

    - Something like the new Omnisphere controller app but as a general MIDI or OSC controller instead of being tied to a specific proprietary synth.

    - an arpeggiator that's easier to use than the existing ones, maybe have two virtual keyboards and play a phrase on the top one and then any note on the bottom one (or any midi in) repeats and transposes it.

any ideas you want to see? I'm trying to think of something fun and pretty small in scope as I'm just getting started. I can't offer any profit sharing or anything beyond a free copy if I use your idea (but if you're paranoid about that kind of thing i wouldn't recommend you post it in a public forum anyways).

oh, and for sure I'll support MIDI clock and CoreMIDI if it makes sense to do so.
  • I wanna see some mutant form of roland vsynth xt, camel audio alchemy, kontakt type of sound manipulation!  With pasteboard !

Or a daw with good effects!!
  • any controller type thing with several drawable / configurable LFO's and random generated steps (think GlitchSequencer minus the game of life bits) would get my $ in a second.
