Anyone tried OpenSL ES for Android audio I/O?

I just found a tutorial for how to do callback/buffer audio I/O with OpenSL ES on Android:

Has anyone tried this with libpd to see if its better than AudioTrack?

Yes, I have some working code here:

I haven't actually used the Java/AudioTrack interface so can't compare them directly. But performance should be similar to AudioTrack. They both use the same underlying system libraries (AudioTrack / AudioFlinger).

It might help shave off some latency,
At this point though, A move from 300ms to 200ms would be awesome.

As Dan said though - in the end it's just using audioflinger - which appears to really be the root of the issue. I've secretly wondered - What if we just used ALSA for devices that had it (using root of course)?
