Hey everybody. I thought you might enjoy this sketch I did at work, planning out some of the aspects of my next project- it's a bicycle-controlled, 4-step melody sequencer.
*it starts at the bottom

| yeah, you gotta have fun with diagrams. Otherwise, I never end up making them. One of my New year's resolutions is to document my work more thoroughly. |

Michael, you're a mad genius!
I'm not sure I'm reading this right. Is it that beer creates bleeps, or can you actually bleep beer and food into existence with this? |

| Ha. So far, it only works in one direction. Sure would be nice to reverse the process though. Then you could have one of those benefit concerts for Africa and actually feed people. |

Hey, thanks for the offer Sheldon. Actually, I'm well on my way and will have it completed within a month or so. I had to pack up my studio because I'm moving to a new place, but once I'm set up it will be quick work.
I worked through the most difficult parts for my first project in this series, a bicycle-controlled drum machine. This new melody bike will use a lot of the same technology. |

| Still working on it right now. But, it's going to be in a gallery show in July so I should probably get on that... |

For anyone who's interested, here are some in-progress shots. I'm using a little Casio for tone generation, and I'm in the process of modifying it to act as an 8-step sequencer that will be controlled by the bicycle.
This was my first time bending metal into a precise (sort of) shape, and it turned out pretty good. Next is all the soldering...

So, I finished the project just in time for a gallery show about Time Travel and 4-dimensional art. It was at Polvo gallery in Chicago. Everyone seemed to enjoy the Beat/Bleep bike, so that's cool.
I've got some photos for now. Video documentation will happen soon, and I'll try to get that posted here too. I'm the guy in the spacesuit at the panel discussion, pretending I'm from the future. (The helmet has some speakers blasting glitchy circuit-bent beats from a modified casio.)

| You've got a really cool suit, man. I'm jealous. I had a similar idea, you seemed to make it come to reality! Very awesome. |
