Heya, I'm one of the developers of "The Wiinstrument". If you have a Mac or run Linux, then our software may fit your needs, and it's free of course Smile

Basically, it's a hybrid MIDI/Audio instrument that can be used like a percussion instrument (just beat Wiimote and an optionally connected nunchuk controller in the air—velocity recognition is included), for controlling MIDI CC parameters via tilt angles, or to trigger notes just by pressing the buttons.

A Windows port is to be published soon.

There's also a tutorial with GarageBand which can be easily adapted to other Audio software…

I saw this http://youtube.com/watch?v=JDd4E6bgLfs recently. Eh, well, it's something. I really dont enjoy playing guitar hero, so I'd probably have more fun with the 'guitar' doing this, if I had one.

I'm surprised not to see Glove PIE mentioned.

I've not tried it with a Wiimote yet, but since my touchscreen died for no reason I plan on buying one for my bandmate and getting it to work with Usine on WinXP via midi and OSC (which Usine natively supports) hopefully today.

I've run GlovePIE with my wiimote. Not for music, but for games on my PC. With PPjoy or just your own scripting prowess you can assign any commands to any of the buttons, or any swift movements.

I use the wiimote for controlling music stuff, you can watch some videos here:

I'll have a new video from the last concert soon, I guess... I'll post it.

I will share the last version which is the 0.4, but it's based on this one.

I can't get "The Wiinstrument" to run on my Macbook Pro (2.16ghz Core 2 Duo). I put it inside my applications folder, and when I click on the icon ... I get nothing. Bummer!

Do you have Leopard or Tiger? The newest version works only with Leopard on Intel macs, the older ones should also work with Tiger on the PPC platform. I hope to have some more time soon to fix this Smile

I'm using Tiger. I would be using Leopard if my damn interface had the nessecary drivers to work with Leopard.

I am working on adapting my GlovePIE script to the Mac so I am programming a small application in objective-c.
Here you have a screenshot: http://davebv.es/b/wiimote-art-controller
And more info will be available soon. I want to record a video showing some of the features and publish the source code.
