I hold out hope that we'll see new designs as elegant as the Casio ... and perhaps going in different sonic directions. I note a couple of synths have come with battery power, like the recent Xiosynth, though they're far more complex beasts.

Homebrewed solution, perhaps? Wink

Do you think it would be possible to open up one of these and turn it into a tiny USB MIDI keyboard?

i dont know, id hope so! i have one, and i love the keys on it. i really hate weighted keyboards, they always seem a bit old fashioned - theres no real need for them today. miniature keys are better. anyway, i have circuit bent mine to give pitch bend (a little bit up, and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way down), and its fun.

Do you have any pictures of your VL with pitch bend? I'd love to put them on the Palm Sounds blog if you don't mind.
