No one's heard of the genres before now, unless they've read my previous posts. I wanted to explain what they are, create awareness, and possibly find if others would be interested in writing in these styles.
AltDigi is the style which is written similar to Punktron, but tends to bend genre lines in between Punktron/Experimental. Of course, it just means Alternative Digital, and it's name was created because for my group we had no genre for our 'alternative' songs. It has nothing to do with music commonly referred to as 'alternative', but is just simply an alternative form of digital music with extreme levels of weird.
"Whatever you do, don't look up" by my group, Born Again Abortion, is an example of a cacophony/weird AltDigi. However, the dark sound is not necessarily typical of AltDigi, though we have no vocals over any other AltDigi project at this time to use as example.

Punktron is quite simply Punk Electronic. I hear people using 'noise' to apply punk ethics to music. Though this is quite literally punk rock translated into digital format. Yet, punk rock simply sounds good on it's own. Therefore through electronic means, the existence of Punktron can be validated by using as many instruments as possible, and composing notes on electronic instruments that would be impossible to play on real ones. The most important rule is that it's concise what notes are being played, and not overly distorted like in noise projects, yet still using a fair amount of distortion as an enjoyable feature of sound.
"Americunt Cream" would likely be the most similar sounding to a punk rock song, yet digitalized, and "My Terrorist Killed your Honor Student" is more of a true punktron song. http://studentweb.ewu.edu/akaczinski49/Born_Again_Abortion/Born_Again_Abortion-Americunt_Cream.mp3

I'm interested in further discussion, specifically if there are some people here who have inspirations in first wave (70s) / second wave (early 80s) punk rock. IE Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Middle Class, Minor Threat, TSOL, Crass. |
