Okay, to get things rolling and welcome everyone to the new forum, please jump in and say a quick hello. (Hint: this is your opportunity to pimp your blog, your MySpace page, your line of mail-order products, and your upcoming tour of Austria.)

My experience with the CDM readership has been that you're a very diverse bunch, so this should be interesting.

Also, I'm the admin, so this doesn't count as first post. Do I hear any w00ts in the house?

I will, I will!

My name is Richard Lainhart, and I'm a composer and performer of electronic music. My site will tell you all (or more than) you need to know about me as a musician.

And thanks to Peter for what I trust will be a valuable new meeting place for creative musicians.

Hi! I'm stridey (Wink) and I'm a college student. I'm double majoring in Computer Science and Music and Technology, so I compose and write audio processing programs. Right now my big project is a beat tracker for general audio. Thanks for starting up these forums, I foresee them being a great resource! Smile

Heh. Looks like the forum didn't set a cookie. Anyway, this is me, signed in.

Hihihi! I'm a student at local JC majoring in Environmental Design (interiors) and I also make electronic music in my spare time. Mostly of the house/techno/electro flavors. I'm also into photography and minimalist art. Take it easy and you'll be hearing from me as often as possible. Twisted Evil

My name is Thomas Wilburn and I'm a writer/musician from the DC-metro area. I've shown up on CDM because of the Electroplankton guides I've written, but my real solo work is at FourStringRiot.com, a looping bass guitar one-man rock band.

I'm hoping to pick up production tips from people here, since I'm beginning to do more work in that area.

Hi all! I'm James from Reflex Audio, the home of a variety of knob-and-(soon to be)-chipsynth-based audio products. I'm wickedly excited to see what kind of strange and wonderful conversations sprout up on the board.

Congrats, Peter. I can't wait for the new and improved CDM site, too. Smile

Hi. I'm from Maine. It's nice during the summer.
I'm mostly a composer in the 'art' sense... I work with genetic and algorithmic music and visual art, all that fun pretentious stuff... but I'm also a huge gear-head and stickler for studio production stuff, which is why I visit this site daily.

I don't think I've ever used a forum with an idea emoticon before, so I'm looking forward to posting here. Idea
Someone needs to create a batch of CDM oriented emoticons... you know, like :capacitor: or :SID: or :johncage:.

Great idea putting a forum on this site! I've been reading CDM for about a year now and love the articles and info available here. This will just add to the reasons I visit the site daily.

:idea:If I could make a suggestion, try to figure out a way to syndicate the forums via RSS and you will make a ton of people happy in the process.

I think the John Cage emoticon is the spacebar.

Hello to you all,

My name is Adam Davis. I am a 16 year old student from Nottinghamshire in England. I have an unlimited palette of interests, from architecture to oneirology, memetics to new media art, politics to transhumanism and immortality. I love everything. But I do have a primary passion, however, and a real burning passion that is: music! I love music, music is the centre of my Universe...forever. But, for me, everything is connected, and so one interest in music led to another interest, and led onto something else and so on. I have been reading the articles on CDM for a long time now, and it's great to see a forum founded here. I hope to meet many other members here and would-be members here. I hope that was a satisfactory introduction to myself Smile

Best, best regards!

Adam

Hi, my name is Chris. I am interested in the potential of PCs for making music. All the stuff I dreamed about being able to do when I was a kid is now possible, often even trivial.

I have broad tastes in music, from Queens of the Stone Age to Mozart (with a longish pause at Eno on the way)

Glad there's a forum here at last. Looking forward to the wit and wisdom of the CDM readership.

Hello, my name is Nat.

I'm a student in electroacoustic composition at University of Montréal. I'm mostly interested in helping compositors and musicians deal with technology. Most of my work is done using Max/MSP though I am always learning new softwares/languages.

I work for 2 companies in the MIDI field : Infusion Systems and Mercurial Innovations Group

I also co-founded Studio Imaginaire where we mostly do audio and video post-production.

My blog page can be viewed here though I don't update it often being pretty busy with work and school.

I will be glad to contribute to this forum if I can be of any help !
