| Anyone else got electroplankton? It's fun and it's silly. I recommend it! |

Heh, I'm afraid I do not have it , but I do find musical video games, like Amplitude, FreQuency, Guitar Hero, Rez et cetera, to be really interesting. The creator of Electroplankton, Toshio Iwai, is collaborating with Yamaha for the development of the "Tenori-On", a musical instrument that incorporates LEDs. Here is the link to the website:

I'm loving my ElectroPlankton. It got pretty harshly reviewed in the press I think because of its limited gameplay . . . it's too bad they didn't use the Wi-Fi capabilities to let you share musical creations or something beyond the game. But I don't know if anyone else felt this way; it made me want to go create my own musical interfaces in Flash.
Watch for a review and, if we're really lucky, a Toshio Iwai interview coming soon . . . |

It did get reviewed harsly in a few cases, but I think it's either you enjoy it or you don't. My girlfriend has quite happily played with it and I find it relaxing and addictive.
I could see more titles with extra functionality becoming very popular. Collaborative would be an excellent addition, and the ability to record and play back compositons and into larger peices independently on the ds would be a fantastic addition.
If you have a ds and are a music nerd you should already have it! |

Amen.
Let's see, while we're compiling these lists, what else would we put on it? Guitar Hero? Frequency? That crazy wacky thing on the Xbox 360? (not that very many of us probably bought a 360 . . .)
I have to get up to Boston and catch up with the Guitar Hero team; they're CDM readers. |

Are you referring to Neon?
There is going to be a next-generation singing game called SingStar, and there is also going to be a game called Metronome (again, next-gen') which uses sound as the basis for it's puzzles and aspects of the adventure, even as a weapon! Although whether it's going to be, well, musical at all, I'm not entirely sure. |
